In the list of all the fictional writers in Bengali literature who have gained fame by writing supernatural-mysterious stories, Manjil Sen's name will undoubtedly be at the top. The scary stories he has written can be divided into three categories. First, stories where there is a direct presence of ghosts; second, stories where there is no direct presence of ghosts but there is mention of supernatural or miraculous events, but the main mystery remains unsolved; and third, stories where there is a fear element, ghosts or miraculous events are mentioned but in the end it is seen that the matter is actually neither supernatural nor miraculous; the whole thing is earthly!
